Rosemarie Nagel is an ICREA Research Professor at Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF) and a Research Professor at the Barcelona School of Economics (BSE). She is also the Research Director of the UPF Behavioral Experimental Sciences Laboratory (BESLab).

Professor Nagel’s research focuses on Experimental and Neuroeconomics. She originated structuring bounded rationality with the strategy method in simple games and via a step-level reasoning model (also called level-k) in Keynesian Beauty-Contest laboratory-, fMRI-, and large-scale field experiments. Her work has fundamentally changed how economists understand strategic thinking.

Nagel has published in the American Economic Review, Econometrica, Review of Economic Studies, Strategic Management Journal, Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS), Nature Human Behavior, Financial Times, and Spektrum der Wissenschaft, among other international academic journals. She is Chief Editor of the Neuroeconomics section of Frontier Behavioral Economics.

Professor Nagel is a Fellow of the Econometric Society and the Economic Science Association (ESA).

She holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Bonn.
